Well I’m here to tell you, it’s absolutely possible for you, and I’ve done it myself even with no background in video production or even formal experience in the first industry I was creating videos for.

Let me explain:

At age 28 I left the corporate world for good to become an entrepreneur.  I was making a lucrative six figure + income selling digital marketing services for a large global brand, but I knew that I was called to do something greater with my life.  So I made the leap, leaving my corporate job without too much of a plan (this is NOT necessarily recommended, haha), and had to start over fresh. I knew that I wanted to do sales coaching, but here’s the problem – I’d literally never done it before and had no idea where to start.

What I WAS very clear on was that I had six months’ of income saved up to live on before I would have to return to corporate, and that the only thing I knew would help me build a successful company would be to become well-known as a sales coach.

And so off I went, promoting myself all over town as “The Six Figure Sales Coach” (catchy, huh?) 🙂

I created networking events, a Facebook group, and more, but the most effective thing by far that I did was to start to share my knowledge about the sales process using videos.  

Several times a week I started posting a video on LinkedIn with a quick sales tip.  

Now, there are several important things to note about these videos:

• They weren’t edited (not that I didn’t want to; I just didn’t know how to)

• They weren’t scripted

• They took an average of 5 minutes or less to create

• Many of them weren’t all that good!

But guess what?  It didn’t matter.  I literally didn’t know what I was doing, but I was floored at the results that these videos generated.  Within weeks I started having people reach out to me saying they’d seen my videos online and wanted to work with me.

They said they felt like they knew me, and they appreciated how much I had shared about the sales process in my videos.  They thought if they could learn that much from me for free, they could definitely get more out of working with me as a coach and consultant.  The conversations I had with these people were easy, and they readily signed up to work with me because they felt like they already knew me and trusted me.  

I even had one inbound contact from a video I filmed in my car, on a call phone, that turned into over $100k in business, countless referrals and became one of my very favorite clients of all time.

I quickly built brand recognition in the field of sales coaching, and within about three years I had built a business that was doing just shy of half a million in revenue per year.  

Remember, this is all from scratch, without ever having done sales coaching before.

Now, while I have moved on from sales coaching to personal brand strategy work, I still use the power of video to demonstrate my expertise and to generate literally hundreds of inbound contacts to my business per month.  My videos, if you watch them, are still not scripted, still not edited, and still not highly produced (although I hope they’re at least a teeny bit better than they were when I first started!). But boy do they work.

Yep, it does.

Yes. That’s where my background in Journalism and Image Consulting come into play to help you. I’ve also done extensive training in on-camera presentation skills, so you’ll be able to use all my tricks and secrets to look and sound your best on video.
